Hi everyone. Sorry I'm not with you today. We have really got to make sure we're getting the ICAP stuff on it's way to being completed. The two main things I want you to be able to do before the day is through is to have a type of job shadow in mind that you can do so that I can start getting them set up. So your completion of this will be put in the grade book. 1. If you have someone that you plan to use, e-mail me their contact information: Name, Company and Phone Number or E-Mail address 2. If you do not have someone in mind, go to greeleychamber.com and choose a type of job that would be available among those listed. E-mail me at least three choices. 3. After you have finished that, I'd also like to know how you're doing on community service hours. E-Mail me (it can be the same email as before) if you have done any community service so far that can count, and if you have any coming up. Trick-or-Treat Street counts! If you're going to stay after school on Tuesday, and stay until 7:30, that's 4 hours right there. Yea! 4. When you finish that, start checking out some jobs your interested, and how much they pay. Example of a reflective writing
Posted: August 16, 2012
(From the "Working Under Others" activity).
Sometimes doing things your way feels better, but it can also help to listen to others. If I know that I'm doing something right, it's frustrating to have someone else force me to do it their way. Just because it works for them, doesn't mean it's going to be the same for me. For example, I have my own way of taking notes during a class, so I don't like it when a teacher forces an alternative method on me. On the other hand, you may never learn how to do something better if you refuse to listen to others. I can type much faster because I learned to use the home row keys, even though it was hard to give up my "hunt-and-peck" method.
I don't think I would like to work for a company that made me do everything their way unless I saw the reason for their methods. I tend to look at everything logically, and I'm always analyzing things. I probably spend too much time analyzing everything. If something doesn't make sense, I don't like to do it. I'm always looking for a better way to do things, so feeling trapped in a system that doesn't make sense would frustrate me. I am at my best when I have the freedom to become better and challenge myself in my work.
